Tattoo Aftercare

Aftercare with Second Skin:

Leave the second skin on for 2-3 days, it will protect your tattoo during the healing process.

After 2-3 days gently remove and peel the second skin away with cleaned, I recommend doing this in the shower or using warn running water. To help release the adhesive, be sure to use an unscented, antibacterial soap and water. Dial gold or Dr. Bronner’s unscented soap are great to use.

Aftercare Regardless:

After cleaning and drying your tattoo with ONLY clean paper towels, apply a thin layer of a water based lotion. Make sure it is gently and completely rubbed in. Some great recommendations for your lotion would be Lubridem, Cetaphil, or Aveeno. Make sure your lotion is also unscented. Clean and repeat this process twice a day until your tattoo is fully healed. No direct sunlight or tanning booths. No excessive sweating. Do not soak the tattoo the bath, sauna, hot tub or any kind of swimming while your new tattoo is healing. Showers are fine!

Do NOT rub, pick or scratch at the tattooed area during the healing process, this can lead to the ink falling out, not healing properly and/or infection can occur. If you notice any signs of infection - reach out to your artist and contact your doctor.

Once your tattoo is fully healed and settled in (4-6 weeks) be sure to apply sunscreen regularly when exposing it to sunlight.
